Our story
The Center for Wellness Encounters was born in 2019 from my journey of healing and transformation. Like many, I faced times of disconnection, anxiety, and the impact of trauma that left me searching for meaning and a lingering feeling that there was more to life than I had spent surviving and getting through the next thing. Through introspection, support, and a commitment to healing, I rediscovered my true self and found a way forward that embraced a holistic approach to emotional, psychological, and spiritual growth.
Before founding TCWE, I earned multiple degrees and navigated the licensing process while providing care to primarily Black, marginalized, and low-income clients. I quickly realized that much of traditional therapy focused heavily on pathology—on identifying what was “wrong” instead of acknowledging the whole person. The approach to therapy I used at that time, for many, wasn’t fully meeting their needs. My approaches didn’t account for the diverse lived experiences of my clients, nor did they provide a deeper, more integrated approach to healing. I knew there had to be a better way that embraced identity, culture, and community—not just treating symptoms but empowering people to step into their fullest potential.
Part of that realization came from my spiritual journey. While spirituality can be a powerful tool for healing, I recognized that many spaces, including some religious settings, often relied on spiritual bypassing—where real-life struggles and pain were ignored in favor of superficial solutions. I wanted to create a space where people could explore their emotions, beliefs, and experiences without bypassing their challenges. I wanted to create a place where healing wasn’t about brushing things aside but about integrating them into a fuller, more balanced understanding of oneself.
Inspired by the story of the Woman at the Well, whose transformative encounter with living water symbolized a deep renewal and shift, I founded TCWE to create that kind of transformational space for others. The Woman at the Well’s story represents the power of real connection, empowerment, and renewal. Just like her, I believe everyone can tap into their source of strength and clarity, no matter their background or struggle.
At TCWE, we focus on supporting Black, BIPOC, and LGBTQI+ clients who often face unique challenges that are not always acknowledged in traditional therapy spaces. We understand that the challenges of identity, culture, and marginalization shape the healing journey in profound ways. That’s why we’re committed to offering therapy that sees the whole person, honors these experiences, and provides the space to explore the mind, body, and spirit as they intersect in your life. While our primary focus is on these communities, our doors are open to anyone seeking healing, growth, and empowerment. Whether you’re navigating trauma, anxiety, relationship difficulties, or personal growth, our mission is to help you embrace the fullness of life. We want to help you step into your power, live authentically, and see all that’s possible ahead.
Our core values—Rest, Respect, Compassion, Authenticity, Empowerment, Trust, and Inclusivity—are woven into every aspect of our work. These values shape how we listen to and guide our clients and create an environment where clients can explore their experiences without fear of judgment. We emphasize authenticity, encouraging clients to reconnect with their true self and empowerment, helping them build the skills and resilience to make lasting changes. Our focus on rest means we value our client’s well-being, encouraging you to heal at your own pace in a space where you can truly be yourself.
For couples, we recognize how easy it is to fall into cycles of miscommunication, frustration, and disconnection. We offer a supportive environment where couples can explore these patterns, rebuild trust, and rediscover meaningful connection. Whether you’re dealing with relationship challenges, healing from betrayal, or strengthening your bond, we help couples create healthier, more understanding relationships.
For families, we understand how complex dynamics can strain relationships and create emotional distance. Whether it’s navigating grief, generational trauma, or supporting each other through life transitions, we help families heal together. Our goal is to guide families in developing stronger, healthier connections, building resilience, and creating a space for open communication and mutual support.
Our therapy approach is not one-size-fits-all. It’s a deeply personal journey, shaped by each individual’s experiences. We focus on understanding you—your unique struggles, background, and healing process—and provide tools to help you move through life with clarity and self-compassion. Clarity means seeing yourself and your circumstances honestly and understanding, helping you recognize the life you want and the steps needed to make that vision a reality. It’s about uncovering your deepest desires and moving forward with purpose. We offer a holistic approach that combines mind-body connection, self-reflection, and practical tools to integrate healing into your daily life.
At TCWE, we help you reconnect with your authentic self, tap into your inner strength, and build the life you deserve. Our focus on inclusivity ensures that no matter where you come from, you’ll find a space where you are seen, heard, and supported. Whether you’re healing from trauma, struggling with relationships, or seeking personal growth, we’re here to walk alongside you every step of the way.
